DP - Policy, criteria and how to apply

At the moment the DP intake is closed. We welcome applicants from Criteria 1, see below, to contact the admission office after January 2017 to start the admission process for DP1, starting in August 2017.  

The Diploma Programme at ISSR is open to both the local and international communities.

All applicants will sit an entrance test in English and Mathematics. Students can only sit our entrance tests once per year. Students need to pass both tests, the test results are communicated with "passed" or "failed".

All programmes at ISSR are free of charge.

Entry requirements to DP1

All students must have official transcripts from last completed grade/ year

In addition, student must also have:

  • Completed nine years of compulsory school in Sweden or abroad
  • Completed grade10, i.e. student need to have studied a programme corresponding to grade 10 in the Swedish natural science or social science programme
  • Passed the ISSR entrance tests

The decision about admission will be made on the basis of the final grades that the student receives from his/her school and a total judgment of his/her complete merits, see also how student applications are prioritized.

Once the requirements are met by the student applying, the application will also be given different priority depending on the status of the student or the student's family status, see below. ISSR will depending on the number of applications received decide to close down applications from criterion 3.  

DP1 application – students will be prioritized according to the following status criteria:

  1. Students having a temporary status (parents work on a limited contract in Sweden for a company/organisation or Embassy) and utlandssvenska* students
  2. Students applying who have attended an English speaking International School abroad for a major part of their education or students who have completed the MYP5 (final year of the IB Middle Years Programme)
  3. Students who have completed grade10 in the Swedish natural science or social science programme or corresponding programme abroad.

*Utlandssvensk elev: en elev vars vårdnadshavare stadigvarande vistas i utlandet och av vilka minst en är svensk medborgare

How to apply

Step 1, complete the online form

All students need to complete the online application form for DP1, click here

Complete application will only be processed if the following documents are uploaded: 

  • Two latest school reports and any Individual Educational Plans (IEP)/Individual Learning Plan (IPL) or documentation of special educational needs/evaluations available.
  • Complete the latest status on your child’s vaccination* and allergies. In addition you must upload your child’s latest vaccination card
  • Your parents short term employment contract or limited employment contract stating their starting date and ending date in Sweden

*Vaccinations should be up to date according to Swedish regulations, click here

 Please be aware of that students will be prioritiesed based on: their status, see under criteria and on their grades and entrance test results.

Step 2, entrance test

All students need to sit the ISSR entrance test (Note: students who come from another IB school do not need do to sit the ISSR test).

Step 3, conditional offer or waiting list

Based on the students status, grades, and test results, a conditional offer will be send to the student or to the parent or the student's application will be put on the waiting list.

DP2 (Grade 12)

This Grade is only open to IB DP transfer students, coming from DP1. Subjects in DP2 need to be the same as in DP1.
